Catastrophe Modelling Analyst Job Family Grouping: Job Family: How does this role contribute to our collective success? The successful candidate will join the transactional team for a fixed term to cover maternity leave, providing natural and man-made catastrophe modelling support to the property insurance underwriters with a focus on binder/delegating underwriting authority business.
This includes both pre-bind modelled requests for pricing on new and renewal business, as well as helping to roll up the portfolio of bound accounts for submission to the exposure management team.
In turn, this allows for the pricing of Earthquake, Hurricane, Winter storm, Tornado, Flooding, Wild Fire and Terrorism risk within premiums quoted and accurate monitoring and reporting of exposure to these risks.
What will you do in this role? You will work with and liaise with our 3rd party modelling outsourcer, to ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and reliability.
You will work closely with the Underwriters to ensure all quotes are prioritised accordingly, and that their needs are met.
You will work with the team to ensure an appropriate Audit and Review process is in place regarding pre bind and bound accounts; Ensuring the Annual Average Loss and Exceedance Probability (EP) Curves for high profile accounts are in line with Underwriter expectations.
Where necessary, you will deep dive any unexpected or anomalous modelled results and present your findings back to them.
This could involve a location level review, the application of financial terms, or how the Catastrophe model is interpreting the data.
You will work with your manager to ensure the current best practice and procedures, for entering and maintaining property exposure data are robust, scalable, and effective and ensure these best practices are updated as appropriate.
You will review your allocated portfolio(s), presenting movements to underwriters and obtaining sign off from them monthly, prior to submission to the exposure management team.
You will provide feedback to the Axis View of Risk to ensure the catastrophe model we use (Verisk, Touchstone) accurately reflects the risk Axis is exposed to.
You will provide accumulation results to the View of Risk team to be used in Post Event Loss Estimates.
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

What you need to have: A graduate degree Excellent analytical and numeracy skills, Able to handle multiple tasks and projects in the same timeframe whilst maintaining attention to detail, Excellent written and verbal communication skills in presenting analysis carried out to others of all technical ability, Microsoft Office skill set essential, particularly Excel including Pivot table, IF statements and VLOOKUP functionality.
