They are currently seeking forward-thinking Excess Casualty Underwriters to join their Jersey City office.

In this role, you'll be responsible for underwriting and managing a profitable portfolio of excess casualty risks, including commercial general liability and umbrella/excess exposures in the E&S (Excess & Surplus) market.

You'll work closely with wholesale brokers and retail agents to grow a strong book of business in alignment with underwriting strategy and risk appetite.

Key

Responsibilities Meet with wholesale agents and brokers to cultivate high-quality submission opportunities.

Evaluate and price risks across various commercial excess casualty lines.

Develop and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.

Monitor performance of in-force accounts and make renewal, pricing, and coverage recommendations.

Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, claim developments, and industry changes.

Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company guidelines, regulatory standards, and profitability goals.

Skills &

Experience 5+ years of commercial excess casualty underwriting experience.

Deep understanding of general liability, umbrella coverage, E&S markets, and risk evaluation.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a proven ability to assess large or complex submissions.

Exceptional communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple underwriting tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working with wholesale brokers and/or binding authority programs is a plus.
