Position Description:

The Inroads intern program creates new access and opportunities for high school students and recent graduates to learn about Penn National Insurance, the insurance industry, and the corporate work environment.

This internship opportunity expands the reach of the organization's commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly to students who live in and reflect the communities closest to our operations.

COMPETENCIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE INROADS INTERN Inroad interns will gain introductory knowledge and practical experience about insurance and careers in insurance through day-to-day and special project work in assigned business units throughout the company.

Inroads interns may be assigned to work in Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Internal Audit, Home Office Claims, Corporate Planning/Special Projects, Home Office Administrative Services, Corporate Facilities & Services, and IT.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE INTERN

Education/Credentials High school students and recent graduates. 2.5 GPA or higher required.

Experience Entry level position.

Prior work experience not necessary.

Technical/Professional Knowledge Good school attendance Desire to learn and work in an office environment Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Good customer service skills Ability to work in a team environment Good research and problem-solving skills JOB REQUIREMENTS (as required by ADA Americans with Disabilities Act) This position is primarily a sedentary position that requires occasional standing and walking throughout the office environment.

Must be able to see and effectively use a computer monitor.

Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard and applicable printers and other general office equipment.

Must be able to access and enter information accurately using automated systems.

Must be able to hear and communicate via the telephone and/or monitoring devices to both internal and external clients.

Must be able to present information to individuals and groups.

Must be able to interpret and apply concepts that may or may not be based upon established guidelines.
