Position Description:

We're looking for a skilled Machinist/Toolmaker to join our team and play a key role in supporting device care centers and automation projects.

In this hands-on role, you'll design and fabricate custom toolingincluding fixtures, gauges, and work aidsbased on engineering specifications.

You'll work with a variety of machining, fabrication, and assembly methods to bring precision tools to life.

As a critical partner to our engineering and process improvement teams, you'll contribute to the development of new automation builds and process-related equipment.

You'll also manage job prioritization across multiple business units and support tooling needs across various sites.

This is an onsite role within our Mt Juliet TN facility.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job? Operate a variety of manual and CNC equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, welders, etc.) to manufacture precision tooling and components Build serialized process tools and parts for large-scale production, including trays, fixtures, nests, and automation components Fabricate one-off prototypes to support new equipment development and process implementation Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical schematics to guide fabrication Design jigs, templates, and work aids from minimal or conceptual input Collaborate with engineering to evaluate and select materials (plastics, composites, metals, alloys) for optimal performance and durability Assess part construction for efficiency, throughput, and manufacturability Set up and standardize machine operations, including spindle speeds and machining procedures Fit, assemble, and inspect tooling for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and functional performance Conduct trial runs and validate new tooling prior to production deployment Perform periodic sharpening, reconditioning, and rework of tooling based on engineering schedules Recommend repair/replacement intervals and determine lifecycle usage for jigs, fixtures, and gauges Ensure all tooling meets safety standards and is safe for operator use Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives focused on tooling and process improvement Support reverse logistics and repair operations through tooling development and equipment standup Collaborate with leadership, engineering, suppliers, and production teams to drive improvements in key performance indicators What are the requirements needed for this position? Associate's degree in a technical, trade, or related field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience; or 10+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in lieu of a degree Proficient in reading, writing, and modifying CNC machine code (G-code), including offsets, tool compensation, and coordinate planes Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain mills, lathes, grinders, welders, cutting saws, and other precision shop equipment Strong understanding of material properties and limitations (metals, plastics, composites, etc.) Skilled in using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and telescopic gauges Solid grasp of basic mathematics and trigonometry as applied to machining and fabrication Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing and logistics environment What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

Experience with welding and brazing techniques is a plus Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable Background in reverse logistics, particularly involving consumer electronics (e.g., smartphones, tablets, smartwatches), is beneficial Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority Self-motivated with a proactive mindset, deadline awareness, and a focus on achieving key performance indicators Pay Range $26.47 - $44.20 Expected Application Deadline 07/28/2025 Any posted application deadline that is blank on a United States role is a pipeline requisition, and we'll continue to collect applications on an ongoing basis.
