To find, engage and develop contacts with new clients and retain quality customers for the Graham Division of Marsh & McLennan Agency. In addition, Producers work closely with Account Managers, Claims Consultants and Surety on the renewal of their existing accounts.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop Quality Accounts: A Producer should solicit accounts that meet Graham Company underwriting and revenue criteria. Subsequently, the Producer will be responsible for producing minimum annual revenue amounts.
  • Prepare Survey and Analysis on New Business: With few exceptions, the Producer will use independent discretion and judgment to prepare and present a Survey and Analysis of a prospect's current insurance policies.
  • Market Account in First Year: On new business, the Producer has the responsibility to use independent discretion and judgment for preparing an Underwriting Submission, as well as marketing the account to insurance companies. The Producer is also responsible for preparing and presenting the written proposal to the insured.
  • Work with Account Managers throughout Renewal Process: The Producer should work with Account Managers to be sure that accounts are satisfactorily managed through the annual policy period and are being renewed properly and that the broadest coverage is obtained for the insured at a reasonable premium. The Producer should spot-check the Account Manager's renewals, letters, billings, etc. to be sure his/her accounts are being serviced in a thorough and timely manner.
  • The Producer is also responsible for supporting the Account Manager to develop a close working relationship with his/her accounts. The Producer works closely with the Account Managers to bond the Account Manager to the account.
  • Assist in Claims Advocacy Process: The Claims Services Department handles the majority of claims situations. However, in unusual or sensitive claim situations where the Claims Services Department requests the assistance of the Producer, the Producer should work with the insured and/or the insurance carrier. Producer also assists in evaluating trends and identifying ways loss performance can improve.
  • Collection of Premiums: The Producer has the ultimate responsibility for the collection of premiums on an account.
  • The Graham Company may request the Producer's services in connection with assignments not directly related to the job of the Producer. Such occasional assignments (e.g., acting as an insurance company liaison) are construed to be for the general good of the agency.
  • Pursue a program for personal and professional development and maintain appropriate state licenses.
  • Attend meetings relating to your position.

Job Specifications

  • College degree preferred or the equivalent work experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of business experience; knowledge of the technical operations of an insurance agency strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with large national accounts in construction, healthcare, and/or higher education required.
  • Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment.
  • Excellent management skills and ability to deal with people.
  • High level of organizational ability.
  • Demonstrated sales skills.
  • High degree of self-discipline and motivation.
  • High degree of intelligence with excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as math skills.
  • Ability to manage an Assistant.
  • Holds required and appropriate insurance agent's license.
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License or alternate efficient and effective means to visit clients/prospects.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Regular and predictable attendance in accordance with the limitations and reporting procedures established by The Graham Company from time to time.
