Receiving/Building Maintenance Mechanic - Harrisburg, PA (17101)

Position Description:

PURPOSE This position will be responsible for performing building maintenance, repairs and improvement projects to keep property and equipment in proper condition.

Included in this function the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the clerical and administrative assignments relating to warehousing and receiving of goods and materials and ensuring timely distribution of documents/packages to intended recipients.

Manage complex repairs to or replace parts of HVAC, light, electrical, and plumbing components.

Assist Corporate Facilities Manager in awareness of code compliance and contribute to methods to improve department.

Planning & Organizing Ensures that required equipment and/or materials are in appropriate locations so that own and others' work can be done effectively.

Effectively allocates own time to complete work.

Coordinates on-site activities of recycling and shredding vendors Pick up all parts and supplies from vendors to complete a job.

Completes work-orders in a timely manner.

Determines where mail should be routed Positive Approach Performs snow removal when required The incumbent must be flexible and may be required to work a variety of hours to ensure the total completion of assigned responsibilities or to ensure proper coverage which may include after hours and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Credentials High School diploma or equivalent Training from a technical or trade school important

Experience One to three years practical experience, including training related to electrical, heating and air conditioning systems.

Exposure to and knowledge of other building trades and maintenance desirable Reading blue prints and schematics beneficial Valid PA drivers' license required Technical/ Professional Knowledge Basic and developable skills relating to electricity, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, etc.

Ability to operate equipment and tools relating to various technical trades.

Recommends alternatives when a job is too difficult, impractical or impossible to accomplish with the initial plan.

Strong listening and communication skills.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (as required by ADA Americans with Disabilities Act) This position is primarily a standing and walking throughout the office complex Must be able to life and use a ladder and lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to see and effectively use a computer monitor.

Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard and applicable printers and other general office equipment.

Must be able to access and enter information accurately using automated systems.

Must be able to hear and communicate via the telephone and/or monitoring devices to both internal and external clients.

Must be able to present information to individuals and groups.

Must be able to interpret and apply concepts that may or may not be based upon established guidelines.

Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours.

Must be able to travel, with overnight stays required.
