Description The Underwriting Manager leads a small team of Underwriters focused on Architects & Engineers (A&E) Professional Liability.
Holds full-suite people management responsibilities for the team: attraction, onboarding, training and development, performance management, coaching, growth planning, and clear communication of A&E underwriting appetite and priorities.
Under direction from the manager, focuses primarily on the oversight of underwriting execution and product line strategy.
Responsibilities Contributes proactively to initiatives in areas outside immediate team unit.
Maintains a visible external profile and strong relationships with external brokers and agents, leveraging these relationships to help the team achieve their goals and expand their own networks.
Articulates and represents Liberty`s value proposition across the business and market.
Focuses on building people management skills.
May cover for manager where required.
May deliver many of the responsibilities of an Underwriter at this level; this is particularly the case in certain parts of GRS where scale dictates that managers may only have a small team.
Qualifications Degree in Business or equivalent typically required 7 years progressive underwriting experience expected CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks within scope of responsibility Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information Has capability to mentor and share information with less experienced employees for underwriting and training purposes Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external partners required About Us Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role isdeterminedbya number offactors including skills, experience, education,certificationsand location.
