Responsibilities We have an opportunity for a Sr.
Recreational Marine Underwriter to join our Berkley One team! As a key member of our Rec Marine team, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving new business, endorsements, and renewals adhering to the highest standards of underwriting quality and service.
You will collaborate with high-net-worth underwriters, providing insightful quote coaching for agents, and managing a growing book of business.
And, you will champion innovative risk management solutions and work closely with Distribution, Marketing, Service, Product, and Actuarial teams to deliver exceptional coverage and a seamless customer experience.

Key functions include but are not limited to: Review and approve new business, endorsements and renewals that fall within underwriting authority and company guidelines; act as referral source on Rec Marine for high-net-worth underwriters Manage book of business as it grows, ensuring high quality and profitability Provide proactive quote coaching for agents on new business submissions; align and convert referred accounts Review risk management reports to identify and recommend risk management solutions and requirements; recommend service and risk management solutions at new line and other points of the underwriting transaction with agent/broker Collaborate with Distribution, Marketing and Customer Service colleagues to ensure alignment and a consistent customer experience; anticipate insured and agent needs and find service solutions Collaborate with Product and Actuarial teams to ensure robust coverage and pricing solutions that reflect the market and customer needs
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience 10+ years of Recreational Marine underwriting experience Incredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike A proactive advocate for Berkley Recreational Marine customers, passionate about their brand experience Exceptional oral and written communication skills, a communication style flexible to the situation, and able to communicate clearly and with a purpose Calm under pressure, possessing excellent organizational skills, integrity, and follow-through on tasks; able to challenge the norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization A strong sense of accountability and ownership A strong customer service bias with a goal to get to yes; known for super responsiveness Natural curiosity, a love of learning how things work and always on the lookout for innovative improvements An analytical mind, a love for diving into the details of an account to craft pricing and coverage that meet underwriting guidelines, profitability models and customer needs Ability to travel as needed, including occasional overnight travel Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms.
The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including: Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000 Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus Benefits include: Health, dental, vision, dental, life, disability, wellness, paid time off, 401(k) and profit-sharing plans The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
