Designated Home State

A licensing state an adjuster declares as home when residing in a state that does not issue adjuster licenses, used for non-resident licensing elsewhere.

DHS licensing — commonly Florida or Texas — allows adjusters from non-licensing states to obtain a valid license for reciprocity and roster requirements. The adjuster must comply with that state's CE and renewal rules.

Examples

An adjuster in Pennsylvania (no state license) obtains a Florida all-lines license as DHS to work nationwide cat deployments.

Common Misconceptions

Letting DHS license lapse invalidates many non-resident licenses. Alaska does not accept DHS for its resident rules — verify state quirks.
