2 Dead After Vehicle Falls From Parking Garage Near City Market In Indianapolis

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019 Auto Liability

A man and a woman died Wednesday morning when the vehicle they were in fell from the fourth floor of a parking garage near City Market, officials say.

The black 2013 Lincoln crashed through a concrete barrier wall and fell from Market Square Center Garage, 241 E. Ohio St., at 9:50 a.m., according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.

The vehicle landed on its roof on East Wabash Street, an alley open only to foot traffic just north of the market. It appeared to have an Illinois license plate.

"There was very little that the extrication teams could do," IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith told reporters gathered at the scene. "It’s been turned over to IMPD as a death investigation."
