Hurricane Igor caused about $65 million in damages eligible for insurance coverage in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canadas insurance industry said Tuesday. On Sept. 21, Igor struck Newfoundland, washing out roads, flooding homes, and cutting off access to food and supplies. The Insurance Bureau of Canada said the figure it released includes damage caused by wind, sewer backup, fallen trees, water entering homes through broken windows, as well as from fallen roofs and walls.
