Multiple Storms Pound North Texas with Large Hail

Thursday, May 26th, 2011 Property

The Dallas Fort Worth area was once again ground zero for a series of severe thunderstorms that pounded the area with baseball size hail on May 24. Four inch hail was reported in several cities including Irving, Carrolton, Southlake, Keller, Grapevine and Avondale. As many as 350,000 homes were hit by 1.75 inch hail or larger, the Insurance Council of Texas reported. The extent of damage from the storms have warranted insurance companies to declare the event a catastrophe and teams of adjusters are en route to assist in assessing the losses.
