2 insurance fraud investigators, agent dead in apparent murder-suicide

Two insurance fraud investigators were killed in Louisiana on Tuesday while trying to collect information from an insurance agent, who later killed himself. Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon confirmed reports that two fraud investigators, Rhett Jeansonne and Kim Sledge, were shot and killed while attempting to collect case information from an agent in Ville Platte, La., during the course of an investigation. The two were investigating Melvin Lavergne, an agent at Lavergne’s Insurance Agency, who was found by Louisiana State Police with a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the Ville Platte office, according to a report by CNN.
