Unlicensed R.I. insurance adjuster to plead guilty in fraud

An unlicensed Johnston insurance adjuster, who joined a North Providence councilman and a former council president in a scheme to defraud an insurance company, has agreed to plead guilty, federal prosecutors said Tuesday. In turn, prosecutors have agreed to ask U.S. District Court Chief Judge Mary M. Lisi to imprison 62-year-old Vincent O. DiPaolo to a term that falls at the lower end of federal sentencing guidelines. DiPaolo, owner of VDP United Consultants Inc., was charged in 2010 with one count of conspiracy and four counts of mail fraud.
