Palmetto city maintenance facility, supplies go up in flames

The city of Palmetto’s maintenance facility and hundreds of thousands of dollars of spare parts and supplies for maintenance and repair of the city’s electrical, water, and sewer systems were destroyed by a fire that swept through the facility on Wednesday. Two bucket trucks, a derrick truck, and several pickup trucks parked inside the 7,000-square-foot metal structure were also damaged, said Palmetto City Administrator Terry Todd on Thursday.
