Paramedics rushed three Los Padres National Forest firefighters to hospitals Tuesday afternoon after lightning struck near them, officials said. Firefighters Ryan Bridgen, Andy Juarez and Jonathan Marquez were fighting a fire caused by lightning strikes in the 2600 block of Lockwood Valley Road at about 3:30 p.m. when thunderstorms moved through the area. The lightning struck the ground, knocking the three men off their feet. The men were disoriented and had headaches and ringing in their ears after the strike.
