Traffic returned to normal after several hours of cleanup following a cattle truck crash on Interstate 74 Friday morning, October 14, 2011. The crash was reported just after 6 a.m. A tractor-trailer hauling cattle overturned crashed in the westbound lanes of I-74 just east of exit 24. Emergency workers said there were approximately 30 cows in the trailer. About half of the cattle were released onto the roadway and on the ground surrounding the road. Illinois State Troopers said approximately five cars struck the loose cows in the areas of Rt. 150, Rt. 81 near Lynn Center, and Rt. 17 near Woodhull.
