West Jordan boy admits guilt in apartment fire

A 6-year-old boy admitted to playing with a lighter and setting a blanket on fire, starting a blaze that destroyed his family’s home Tuesday morning. West Jordan firefighters responded to 6330 South Dixie Drive shortly after 9:00 a.m., where a fire had started in an upstairs bedroom of one unit in a fourplex home. The boy sustained smoke inhalation and his 39-year-old father had second-degree burns on his hand. A 14-year-old girl was not injured. The man and the boy were both taken to an area hospital in good condition.
