Police: Man escapes submerged truck

A man reportedly swam to shore when the pickup truck he was driving went off the road and ended up on water at a Scott County, Iowa quarry. The wreck was reported just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the quarry in the 21000 block of Great River Road just north of LeClaire. The truck involved was reportedly southbound on Great River Road when it left the road, traveling more than 200 feet in the grass along the shoulder before it hit a pole, spun and went into the water rear-end first.
