Thursday, October 18th, 2012 Workers' Compensation

A factory worker was killed Tuesday in a workplace accident at Chipita America in Yadkinville. Terry Palmer, 42, of Winston-Salem, was killed in the accident, which happened around 7 a.m. at 500 Nonni’s Way. Palmer was caught in the machine after getting on a conveyor belt to fix a pan that got stuck, state occupational safety and health officials said. First responders were able to free Palmer and perform CPR, but he died a short time later, said Chief Bryan Southard with the Yadkinville Fire Department. NC OSHA officials said no more information would be released until the investigation is completed, and that could be 3-4 more months.
