In New Jersey, New PIP Rules Go Into Effect After Court Denies Stay Request

New Jersey’s Superior Court has denied a medical group’s request for a stay of the new motor vehicle personal injury protection (PIP) regulations last evening. The court’s decision means the state’s insurance department can now go ahead and implement the new PIP regulations beginning today, Jan. 4., as had been originally scheduled. Back in November, the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers filed for an injunction request for a stay of the new regulations in the Superior Court, Appellate Division. Previously, the state’s Department of Banking and Insurance had denied the group’s request for a stay of the regulations.
