Texas Insurance adjuster takes plea for embezzlement

A Fred Loya Insurance adjuster agreed to permanently surrender her license and pleaded no contest Tuesday to embezzling nearly $160,000 from her employer. Under terms of the plea agreement, Jennifer Marez, 35, will face up to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced next month by state District Judge Raymond Angelini. Theft between $100,000 and $200,000 is a second-degree felony that can carry a punishment of up to 20 years in prison. Marez has applied for probation.
