City Council candidate charged with insurance fraud

Monday, October 14th, 2013 Auto Fraud

A Jacksonville man was arrested for allegedly claiming he was carjacked and then filing a fraudulent insurance claim for reimbursement of the car’s value. Orlando Robles-Santana, 40, was charged with false insurance claims. Robles-Santana filed to run for the City Council at Large Group 1 seat in September. His attorney told us Friday that he will resign from that post. So far, he has not done it. According to an investigation, Robles-Santana reported his 2004 Jaguar sedan stolen after a supposed carjacking by two men in a pickup truck. He then filed a theft report and insurance claim for reimbursement of full value of the vehicle. Nearly a year later, sheriff’s deputies found the vehicle during a routine inspection of a local salvage yard.
