At least four people, including a child, were injured Tuesday morning in an apartment fire in Kansas City. It broke out around 1:30 a.m. in the Duquesne Village Apartments at 2029 NE Russell Rd. The two-story building was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Authorities said two men, one woman and a 4-year-old were injured when they were forced to jump from balconies. They were transported to a nearby hospital with traumatic injuries. Five others had to be rescued by firefighters. A witness told 41 Action News they saw the flames begin near the bottom of the building before it moved across the entire complex and caused part of the roof to collapse. The Red Cross is assisting the 22 residents affected. Several are staying at the Synergy building across the street.
