Storm-related insurance claims nearly 6,000 and rising

 Tuesday, November 19, 2013

About 6,000 claims resulting from Sunday’s tornadoes, high winds and hail were filed as of late afternoon Monday by policyholders with the two Bloomington-based insurance companies. Reporting from Washington, Holly Anderson of State Farm said the insurer had received about 1,800 homeowners’ claims in Illinois, 1,200 in Indiana and more than 550 in Michigan. “We expect those numbers to continue to go up,” Anderson said. Also responding from Washington, Chris Stroisch with Country Financial said Country had received 2,006 homeowners’ claims and 362 auto claims in Illinois alone.
