The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a van and a pickup truck in Osceola County. It happened around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and Reaves Road, near Poinciana. According to investigators who talked to witnesses, the passenger van, driven by 73-year-old Rinaldo Piccinelli, was trying to turn left onto Reaves Road as the traffic light turned yellow, when it was hit by the pickup truck, driven by 41-year-old Lazaro Yut, with a trailer full of oranges. FHP said 10 people were taken to five different hospitals, including a 5-year-old boy they said was thrown from the van. Investigators said one child with injuries was flown by helicopter to a hospital. “Nurses at Arnold Palmer say the boy is in stable condition. He’s already sitting up and talking,” said Sergeant Kim Montes.
