A cage fighter who faked his own death to escape a debt has been sentenced to up to 40 years in prison for armed robbery in Michigan, a report said. According to The New York Times, Charles Rowan pleaded guilty and was jailed for at least 17 and half years, but could serve the full 40 years. Rowan, 26, and his girlfriend Rosa Martinez pretended that the cage fighter had died in a car crash just before a fight in February. Martinez called the fights promoters from Rowans cell phone to report the "death". The lie was part of an attempt to escape an $80,000 debt to a drug dealer and start a new life, according to the newspaper.
