Busted pipe claims ’overwhelming’ insurers this winter

Matthew Schuler, a recent contestant on “The Voice” singing competition, and his family found out the hard way what can happen when drastic shifts in temperatures cause water pipes to burst.
Schuler, a 2011 Pennsbury grad, and his family spent about two weeks earlier this month on a benefit concert tour in Jamaica that raised money for a children’s hospital in the Caribbean nation. When they returned from sunny Jamaica to snowbound Bucks County, they found part of the roof cracked in their Lower Makefield home and much of the house flooded.
