Flood of insurance claims expected in South Africa following storms

South Africans have been battered by heavy rains that caused floods and storm damage across Gauteng over the weekend and on Monday. Business and suburban districts in Pretoria and Johannesburg were severely affected by flooding, which forced road closures while low-lying bridges in parts of the province were engulfed by the torrents from overflowing rivers. While the physical damage to roads and property is evident, the financial implications for businesses, homeowners and motorists are only just beginning to be calculated.
