A Tabor City couple has been indicted in U.S. district court for crop insurance fraud. The 19-count indictment alleges Milton Russ Barnhill and Sharon Turbeville Barnhill filed false federal crop insurance claims that were reimbursed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The couple also made false statements in connection with the federal crop disaster program and committed bank fraud by lying about collateral to get a loan, according to the indictment filed Feb. 27.
