Pair accused of stolen car fraud in Ohio township

Two local men were free on bond Friday after pleading not guilty to insurance fraud. Prosecutors say the scam was uncovered by Warren Township police and troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Appearing before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge W.Wyatt McKay after their arrest on secret indictments were James A. Adams, 50, of 826 Althea Ave. N.W., Warren, and David L. Smith, 47, 6974 Hoagland Blackstub Road, Bazetta. Assistant county prosecutor Gabe Wildman said Smith is accused of arranging through Adams to have a car he owned to be stolen from the parking lot of Eastwood Mall in the fall of 2009.
