’We lost engine,’ pilot says before crash near Burlington Mall, Mass.

Two people survived when their single-engine plane crashed into a marshy area near a popular shopping mall in Burlington on Wednesday.The plane went down in a wooded area near Burlington Mall on the Middlesex Turnpike at 1:30 p.m. The plane, a 2008 Cirrus SR22, is equipped with a parachute system that the unidentified female pilot was able to deploy. In a call to the tower, she said the plane had a mechanical failure.
"We have an emergency. We lost the engine. We are declaring an emergency. We cannot make it to the runway," the pilot said.
