State investigators have busted an insurance fraud ring after a three-year investigation. A Jefferson County grand jury indicted 19 people. The Department of Insurance Fraud in Frankfort has been very quiet about the investigation because it knew it was big. It was a large, organized ring that apparently crashed rented vehicles into unsuspecting victims to get hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance money. "I think it’s a wake-up call, not only for the public in general, those who are law-abiding citizens, but for those who are involved in the crime," said State Fraud Investigative Supervisor Randy Harris.
