The severe weather that moved across northern Hartford County Sunday evening caused a house fire on Prospect Street and brought a tree down onto houses on Crescent Beach Drive. The fire at 95-97 Prospect St. was caused by a lightning strike, Thompsonville Fire Department Capt. Keith Pliszka said. Firefighters were called to the house at 7:34 p.m. and had the fire under control in about 40 minutes. The two families living in the home were displaced and the American Red Cross said it provided assistance to five adults and two children.
