Kevin Banner, of Garfield Heights (Cuyahoga County), on Aug. 4 pleaded guilty in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas to one count of workers’ compensation fraud, a first-degree misdemeanor. The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) began investigating Banner after receiving a tip that he sold athletic shoes, apparel and other items on eBay. Investigators confirmed that Banner returned to work as a self-employed eBay salesperson between 2008 and 2011; during this time, he demonstrated his ability to return to work although he continued to receive temporary total disability benefits.
