Rachel Forsman awoke Sunday first thinking that someone was pushing a shopping cart down the street next to her New Brighton home, then that it might be raining. “I said, Its not supposed to rain today, ” said Forsman, 36. “It was the fire. I heard crackling and popping.” Six departments responded to a fire at Fifth Avenue and Mulberry Street about 7:30 a.m., said New Brighton Assistant Fire Chief Gary Knight. It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control and less than 90 minutes to extinguish.
