Florida Home Destroyed in Early Morning Fire

Mark Troiano flew in from Boston on Monday, reaching his nearly year-old Laguna Drive West home in the Waters Edge III Peppertree Pointe development about 1 a.m. Two hours later the house was a smoldering shell. Troiano, 61, a part-time Boston-area resident, took a JetBlue flight to get here and open his Iona-area house. "I got in by 11:30 or quarter to 12 and I was here by 1 a.m. Instead of going to bed I started opening up the house," he said. The house, overlooking a lake in the development, was built in 2013. Troiano said he started the car, a BMW Z3, and then went inside to turn on his computer.
