Firefighters have responded to a building collapse at a Buddhist temple near Sugar Land Thursday morning. According to witnesses, it happened around 1:45 a.m. at the Vietnam Buddhist Temple on Synott near Webb. The cause of the collapse has not been released. Fire investigators are still on the scene and they say it appears the roof caved in and then the walls came down. At this point it doesn’t appear anyone was inside. Seven monks live next door to the sanctuary, which has stood for more than 14 years before Thursday.
