Insurance Companies Bracing For Claims After Monster Storm

It’s too early to say how much this week’s massive snowfall will cost in insurance claims, but at least one local firm expects the total community loss to rival the October storm of 2006. Lawley Insurance has not yet seen a dramatic increase in claims from individuals and business owners who have been affected by the lake-effect storm that has buried South Buffalo, the Southtowns and the eastern suburbs. But that’s not unusual when so many people haven’t been able to assess their properties, said Charlie Riley, spokesperson for the Buffalo-headquartered insurance brokerage.
