Intense Rainfall In SW Washington Floods Homes, School

Large sections of Pacific and Wahkiakum Counties were under a foot or more of water Monday after a torrential storm dumped more than seven inches of rain on parts of Western Washington. The flooding caused severe road damage, blocked sections of several highways and state roads, and led to building damage and school and business closures.
As the water poured in, residents scrambled to protect belongings and move to higher ground. But as of press time, there were no indications that the flooding had caused any significant injuries, collisions or deaths.
