New Jersey Blaze Destroys Businesses And Apartments

A fire that broke out in a downtown block of the historic Ocean Grove section of Neptune Township destroyed a three-story building housing apartments and shops, and displaced at least seven people, authorities said. The fire, which is still under investigation, broke out at 3:27 p.m. on Friday at 50 Main Ave. in the heart of the community’s downtown district two blocks from the ocean. Neptune Township police Lt. Michael McGhee said some residents and shopkeepers were in the building at the time and had to be evacuated.
