Auto Repair Shop Owner, Adjuster Indicted For Fraud

An insurance adjuster and an auto repair shop owner were indicted Tuesday on 23 counts of insurance fraud.The indictment, filed in Bibb County Superior Court, names William Emerson Scruggs, 46, owner of Diamond Auto Painting on Broadway, and Patrick Renaldo Dixon Jr., 42.An investigation revealed Scruggs and Dixon, a former Nationwide Insurance Co. claims adjuster, schemed to generate about $12,000 in fake repair claims for policyholders in 2010 and 2011, according to the state insurance commissioner’s office. Checks were issued to Diamond Auto Painting based on the false claims.
