Insurance claims in Texas are expected to spike after four storms in less than two weeks moved across the state, producing damaging winds, hail and tornadoes. According to the Insurance Council of Texas, claim adjusters could see 60,000 auto insurance claims alone from the storms. The April 26 storm produced 11 tornadoes and softball-sized hail in northern Texas. Many of the month’s large hail events were outside city centers, but none moved into a city’s downtown. A storm the evening of April 18 near Austin caused damage to around 75 percent of Lake Travis ISD’s school bus fleet.
