An Amtrak passenger train crashed into a flatbed truck Sunday, killing it’s driver. The truck was on the train tracks located at the intersection of Highway 51 and Pope Lane just north of Amite, according to Amite Fire Chief Bruce Cutrer. No crew members were harmed. The train was headed for New Orleans. Buses will transport the passengers to their destinations, according to Cutrer.
