Plumes of smoke fill the sky over Brandon Wednesday morning as Hillsborough Fire Rescue Crews battle a three-alarm fire at a nearby storage facility. It broke out at "Extra Space Storage" at the corner of Highway 60 and Miller Road around 5 a.m.
What started as 12 affected units has risen to just under 50, Hillsborough Fire Rescue Spokesperson Nacole Revette said.
The fire has remained active for hours after the first crew responded. Officials at the scene said they would be switching crews throughout the morning to keep the firefighters hydrated and safe.
