Heavy rains in Missouri triggered flash floods and forced 60 residents to flee from their homes overnight, emergency management officials said. Two mobile home parks near Festus, south of St. Louis, were evacuated with the help of firefighters, Warren Robinson, director of emergency management in Jefferson County, told NBC News. "Our Doppler software showed some areas had five inches of rain overnight and that had an impact on many of our smaller streams," he said. However, the rain was not expected to affect the Mississippi, he said.
