Amtrak Train Hits Car On San Diego Tracks

A driver managed to escape just before an Amtrak train crashed into his car on the train tracks in Little Italy Wednesday morning, police said. The Amtrak train crashed into the Chevy Malibu at 6:06 a.m., causing heavy damage to the vehicle’s driver’s side and the hood. San Diego police arrived on the scene shortly after the accident and was investigating. The southbound Amtrak 564 and northbound Amtrak 573 trains were cancelled, as the train involved in the crash remained at the scene blocking the track.
