Firefighters worked to put out a blazing 2-alarm fire at the Rodeway Inn in La Mesa early Tuesday morning, Heartland Fire said. The fire was reported at 4:42 a.m. at the Motel at 4210 Spring Street. Firefighters arrived a few minutes later. Several engine crews worked to put out the fire and the hotel was evacuated. Flames taller than the building itself shot from the attic and could be seen for miles. Heartland Fire Department evacuated 17 occupied rooms. and no injuries were reported, according to Heartland Fire.
