12 Injured In Harlem Apartment Building Fire

Twelve people were injured, five of them seriously, in a fire at an apartment building in Harlem Monday night, the FDNY said. The fire started sometime before 10:20 p.m. in a ninth floor compactor chute of the 28-story apartment building, which is located near St. Nicholas Avenue and W. 131st Street. Twelve people were injured in the fire. Five of them were listed in serious condition at an area hospital. The other seven, including a firefighter, suffered minor injuries.
At least three of the patients were at Harlem Hospital early Tuesday morning.
