A wildfire destroyed seven homes in a rural area near the west Texas town of Eula. Meanwhile, a wildfire burned almost three square miles of Ranchland north of Amarillo. The fires, which both started Saturday, came after experts had warned of an increased threat in some areas because of warmer temperatures, moderate winds and low relative humidity. The threat was expected to lessen by Wednesday. The Texas A&M Forest Service said the fire near Eula, which burned one square mile, was contained by Sunday evening.
